Willie Robertson on how hunting brings him closer to God

Willie Robertson has a new book out which delves into America's storied history of hunting. "American Hunter: How Legendary Hunters Shaped America" is filled with stories of famous hunters along with personal hunting tales. The "Duck Dynasty" star spoke to FOX411 about his love of hunting and who he likes in the Republican race.

FOX411: How did the idea of this book come about?
Willie Robertson: I met with our publishing company and they said we have a great idea to put together this collection of great American hunters throughout the time from even before the birth of our country and how it's impacted and shaped it. We started gathering information, wrote some stories, I put some personal stories in it. I wanted to see the impact hunting had on this country. I've grown up hunting my whole life. It's been our family business as well. Obviously our family is passionate about hunting and the great outdoors so wanted to put this collection together.

FOX411:Anything surprised you?
Robertson: A lot surprised me...how hard it was, how harsh our young America was. People really hunted out of necessity. Now we do it because we love it. Back then because they were exploring this big country, they were pushing West, hunting came with that. It's good and bad, we about decimated our buffalo...animals were over-hunted. Thank God for Teddy Roosevelt who was a passionate hunter himself and president. Well-to-do guy from New York but loved to hunt. He put in a lot of the systems that we enjoy today. The refuge system, the parks. Just to make sure the numbers came back. Here we are one hundred years later still enjoying the outdoors.

FOX411: Do you feel closer to God when you're out hunting?
Robertson: I do. It slows down. I'm super busy with the television show and the kids and you get out there and you turn the cell phone off and it's just you and nature and the animals and how they survive. It's very spiritual.

FOX411:What's your favorite memory of hunting?
Robertson: When I took Korie out. She was going to just watch. And I saw this deer and I said, 'You want to shoot this deer?' And she said, 'Yeah' and she had never done it before and we were hunting with a cross bow and I said, 'Do you know where to hit it?' And she said, 'I've watched your videos, I know where to hit it.' And sure enough she was successful. So we cleaned it up and she provided several meals for our family. That's a big deal for us. It's the ultimate farm to table. We're out there in the woods, we see what we're going to take, that's a process. There's a process of cleaning it, there's a process of cooking it and then we all sit down at the dinner table and eat it. Whoever provided it, we're appreciative of that and we acknowledge that. It's a way for us to eat. Who knows if a different time where we needs those skills, I'm glad we have those skills, able to go out and get our own food.

FOX411:So you eat all the food you hunt?
Robertson: I eat it or someone eats it. We've donated a lot of meat. I give it to families that need it. Everything we kill is eaten by someone. There's great organizations. There's Hunters for the Hungry.

FOX411:What do you think of Walter Palmer who killed Cecil the Lion?
Robertson: I try not to judge people. I don't know the guy personally. The story sounded a little shady, how it went down.

FOX411:Would you go on an African safari to shoot wildlife?
Robertson: I probably wouldn't. Again, I'm not going to judge people who do. As long as it's legal, my thing is that as long as it's legal... there's people here in America who don't like people hunting [or] shooting a duck but it's legal. If he did something illegal, I'm certainly against that. But if it's legal, then if someone wants to do that then they're certainly allowed to.

FOX411:Does it bother you when you're criticized for hunting?
Robertson: I'm used to being criticized. Most of the people criticizing like that don't understand what we do. They don't understand hunting. They need to read this book and they'll have a better appreciation of that. A lot of smart people have studied animal patterns to know how many animals need to come out otherwise they'll overpopulate. If they're overpopulate, they'll just get disease and start dying because there's too many. The animal populations are great and thriving. Most of the money for that comes from hunters. All our hunting licenses goes back to conservation. So hunters are the biggest conservationists. That's what in the book.

FOX411:Who are you supporting for 2016?
Robertson: I don't know like everybody else. I'm still watching the debates and trying to figure out who I like. They're are some good candidates on the Republican side, there's just too many. Need to get them down, needs to whittle down a bit. I'm from Louisiana so I like Bobby, we're good friends. I met Trump, he's a good guy. I like a lot of the stuff he says. I like his energy and his passion. I like his leadership especially on business because I'm a business guy. But Ben Carson's great, we'll see.

FOX411:What happens if one of your kids doesn't want to hunt?
Robertson: That's fine. Not everyone's a hunter. You either have that or they don't. There's something about being out in nature, being with the animals, seeing the sunrises and sunsets, being with nature. It's very spiritual for me. My wife's parents are vegetarian so we're used to that. I get it. If they wanted to be vegetarian that's fine, they'd miss out on a lot of good venison.

Source: Sheen had sex with ‘several women’ last week, didn’t divulge HIV status

On Tuesday Charlie Sheen said in an interview that he had informed every woman he had sex with about his HIV status.

But a source close to the situation tells FOX411 that Sheen had sex with “several women” just last week, and didn’t tell them he was HIV positive

“Last week, he had sex with several women. He did not tell them he was HIV positive,” the source told FOX411. “He has had sex with hundreds of women since his diagnosis, and has not told any of them until after. “

Bree Olson, who lived with Sheen in 2011, said in an interview Tuesday with Howard Stern that Sheen never told her, either.

“He never said anything to me,” she said. “I was his girlfriend. I lived with him. We were together. We had sex almost every day for a year.”

Sheen and Olson split in April 2011.

Lauer quizzed Sheen about if he “knowingly or unknowingly” transmitted HIV to any of his sexual partners.

“Impossible,” the actor replied.

The star said he did have unprotected sex since finding out about his condition “but the two people I did that with were under the care of my doctor.”

Sheen said he had already paid "upwards of $10 million" to keep the information secret.

"We're talking shakedowns," he said.

The insider addressed Sheen's assertion. “For him to say he’s been shaken down is BS," the source said. "He finds people on the lowest socio-economic ladder. These women are living in fear. The HIV virus incubates for 5-7 years. He may have millions of dollars for HIV cocktails and medications, but they don’t.”

'DWTS' contestant Alek Skarlatos on ISIS: 'Kill them all'

LOS ANGELES –  Just days after the Paris terror attacks, Alek Skarlatos thrilled the crowd at "Dancing with the Stars" by performing a patriotic waltz to "America the Beautiful."

No celebrity was eliminated on Monday night in a show-ending surprise and Skarlatos advanced to next week's finale with the three other competitors. The hero who subdued a suspected terrorist on a Paris train this summer found himself thinking about the City of Lights dealing with darkness again.

When asked backstage by FOX411 what America should do about ISIS, Skarlatos said, "I'd say kill them all but that takes money and lives, so we'll see. I don't know. There's no easy call, obviously."

Army National Guardsman Skarlatos shot to fame with his longtime buddies Spencer Stone and Anthony Sadler after they courageously jumped up and stopped a gunman with an AK-47 while traveling on a train from Amsterdam to Paris.

But sadly, worse was to come as this Friday, more terror hit Paris in coordinated attacks.

Skarlatos used his emotion to pay tribute to America and France through dance--and Judge Bruno Tonioli raved that he looked like "a gliding eagle" with partner Lindsay Arnold. He earned a strong score of 57 out of 60 for his three dances of the night.

Regarding the waltz, Skarlatos said, "We wanted to do something patriotic and I think it all came together pretty well. I liked it. Having my whole family here [to watch] was great. My grandpa came out for the show tonight, and Mike Moustakas [of the Kansas City Royals]."

After the show, Skarlatos told reporters about making it through to the grand finale, "I'm so lucky. I'm so glad I have Lindsay as a partner and she took me this far."

Also during the show, Skarlatos did a trios dance, performing with both Arnold and another pro, his "DWTS" crush, Emma Slater.

Earlier this season, Skarlatos performed with Slater during "switch up" week and hoped for a romance, but, as he told FOX411 a few weeks ago, he found out she's "spoken for."

Dylan Penn ‘rarely comfortable’ when modeling

LOS ANGELES –  Dylan Penn, the daughter of Robin Wright and Sean Penn, has made a name for herself in the modeling world, but she revealed to FOX411 she isn't necessarily comfortable in front of the cameras.

“I’m rarely comfortable during a shoot,” she said. “There are times when I have a good time and I feel really comfortable with the photographer and the crew. But most times, it’s awkward, and I don’t really like having my picture taken anyway and modeling is kind of painful at times but it’s what pays the bills and I’m very lucky to get the jobs I have been fortunate enough to have.”

Now starring in her first feature film, “Condemned,” the 24-year-old doesn’t know if she will ever get used to seeing herself onscreen.

“It was great; I was just really excited to work with Eli (Gesner, director),” she said. “Watching myself on screen period was just the weirdest thing ever, and I can’t really describe it. It was bizarre. I don’t know if I will ever get used to that.”

The novice actress revealed the advice her famous parents shared with her.

“My dad, when I started shooting, he said ‘the one thing I would tell you is obviously you are playing a character—you are playing someone who is not you, but if you have a line that is so not you or you wouldn’t say or you do something that feels false don’t do that. Redo it and change the line so it is more you. Because if you do something that feels false, it will read as false.’”

The model also recently got to meet her dad’s ex Madonna for the first time.

“It was great to finally meet her; you grow up hearing stories of your dad and Madonna and their tumultuous relationship and they were so young,” she explained. “It was cool to meet this woman who knew my dad at such a young age, it was great! They are close friends and so cool with each other. It’s nice to see that respect still remains and there is still love for each other there. It makes me happy. It makes me think I can have that with my ex-boyfriends when we are older.”

'Spectre' stays on top with $35.4M; 'Peanuts' with $24.2M

NEW YORK –  The box-office duo of James Bond and Charlie Brown again dominated North American movie theaters over the weekend, while Angelina Jolie Pitt's "By the Sea" made barely a ripple.

Sony's "Spectre," the 24th Bond installment and last week's top film, took in $35.4 million in its second weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday. Daniel Craig's fourth Bond film has most flexed its muscles abroad, where the majority of its $500 million-plus two-week global haul has come from. It got a boost, too, over the weekend in China, where it debuted with $48 million — the best opening for a 2-D, U.S. release in China, Sony said.

"The Peanuts Movie," from 20th Century Fox, remained in second place with $24.2 million. Both it and "Spectre" held strongly in their second weeks. "The Peanuts Movie" has grossed $82.5 million thus far.

Of the new releases, the Christmas comedy "Love the Coopers" — a family holiday gathering directed by Jessie Nelson and starring an ensemble including Diane Keaton and Alan Arkin — fared the best. It took in $8.4 million for CBS Films.

Warner Bros.' Chilean miner drama, "The 33," earned a middling $5.8 million. Though the 2010 disaster, which trapped 33 miners underground, riveted the world for 69 days, moviegoers showed little interest in a dramatized version of the event starring Antonio Banderas and Lou Diamond Phillips.

Universal Pictures considerably scaled back the release of the poorly reviewed "By the Sea," a marital drama starring Jolie Pitt and Brad Pitt. Playing in just 10 theaters, it made only $95,440. The third film directed by Jolie Pitt, who also wrote the script, "By the Sea" was made for a modest $10 million, so it won't hurt Universal much, but proved surprisingly unappealing to moviegoers despite starring two of Hollywood's biggest stars.

Expanding to 60 theaters, Tom McCarthy's acclaimed "Spotlight," about the Boston Globe investigation into Catholic priest sex abuse, pulled in $1.4 million with a per-screen average of $23,307 for Open Road Films. Tabbed as an Oscar favorite, the film, featuring an ensemble including Mark Ruffalo and Michael Keaton, is stoking interest with a gradual expansion.

Next weekend, Lionsgate's "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2," the final chapter in the young-adult saga, is sure to supplant Bond at the top of the box office.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Rentrak. Where available, the latest international numbers for Friday through Sunday are also included. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

1. "Spectre," $35.4 million ($152.6 million international).

2. "The Peanuts Movie," $24.2 million ($2.5 million international).

3. "Love the Coopers," $8.4 million.

4. "The Martian," $6.7 million ($5.3 million international).

5. "The 33," $5.8 million.

6. "Goosebumps," $4.7 million ($2.4 million international).

7. "Bridge of Spies," $4.3 million ($1.2 million international).

8. "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo," $2.4 million ($31 million international).

9. "Hotel Transylvania 2," $2.4 million ($8.9 million international).

10. "The Last Witch Hunter," $1.5 million ($5.2 million international).

Miley Cyrus' X-rated photo shoot

Miley Cyrus has posed for her most explicit photo shoot yet. The pop star posed topless and with sex toys in a series of magazine covers for a publication called Candy.

The photos were snapped by controversial photographer Terry Richardson who also directed the singer’s “Wrecking Ball” video which found her astride a wrecking ball except for a pair of Doc Marten boots.

The magazine is described as ‘celebrating transvestism, transsexuality, crossdressing and androgyny in all their glory.’

In the photos the 22-year-old performer almost licks her armpit hair, holds a kitten while naked and makes provocative gestures with a baton in a police costume.

In an interview with ELLE UK magazine last month, Cyrus said that she considers herself pansexual – meaning she’s open to dating everyone.

She said: ‘I’m very open about it – I’m pansexual. But I’m not in a relationship. I’m 22, I’m going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I’m with.’

Nick Alexander's American girlfriend grieves for him in New York

The heartbroken girlfriend of a Paris terrorism victim rocked back and forth in grief, sobbing outside the French Consulate on Fifth Avenue on Saturday night.

“I’ll never see him again,” cried Polina Buckley, who lives in New York.

She covered her face as she wept on the ground next to a framed photo of her boyfriend of three years, Nick Alexander, at a makeshift memorial to the victims of Friday’s attacks in Paris.

Alexander, 36, a Briton, was one of at least 89 victims killed inside the Bataclan concert hall Friday evening.

“Sleep tight, my sweet prince . . . #iwillalwaysloveyou” Buckley had tweeted earlier Saturday, along with a photo of her kissing Alexander’s cheek.

Alexander was merchandise manager for the California-based band, Eagles of Death Metal, whose gig was turned into a bloody war zone Friday evening when three terrorists entered the theater massacred the group’s fans. He had previously worked on tours for bands such as Sum 41, the Black Keys and Panic! at the Disco.

His family released a statement that read: "Nick was not just our brother, son and uncle, he was everyone's best friend — generous, funny and fiercely loyal. Nick died doing the job he loved and we take great comfort in knowing how much he was cherished by his friends around the world."
